Aug 01, 2026: Chenyi Yuan has joined our group as a Ph.D. student. Chenyi obtained his B.Eng. from University of Science and Technology of China in 2026. Welcome! Our existing  member Hoi Fung Ronaldo Chan will stay in our group as a Research Assistant.

Jul 29, 2026: Our paper "Xiao, C., Li, Y., Tang, H.*, Chen, C.* (2026). Adaptive ventilation based on cough detection and localization for airborne infection control in vehicles" has been accepted by Journal of Hazardous Materials. This is a collaborative study with Prof. Haida Tang from Shenzhen University. Congratulations to Can!

Jul 11, 2026: Our Comments and Opinion paper "Chen, C., Siegel, J.A.  (2026). Challenges and opportunities in air filtration for the control of infectious diseases" has been accepted by Building and Environment. This is a collaborative study with Prof. Jeff Siegel. It describes the outcome of two workshops held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Toronto.

Jul 05, 2026: Our paper "Wang, X., Guo, K., Huang, W., Chen, C.* (2026). Effectiveness of 222 nm far-UVC disinfection of airborne and surface bioaerosols in railway trains" has been accepted by Building Simulation. Congratulations to Xudong!

Jun 26, 2026: Prof. Chun Chen received research funding from Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong through the General Research Fund (GRF): "Development of rapidly dissolving nanofiber filters for efficient air sampling and nucleic acid analysis of airborne pathogens in built environments", No. 14204326, HK$992,787, 01/2027 – 12/2029. The Co-I is Prof. Ling Nathanael Jin from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
